Padre Álvaro Martínez celebrates 10 years of ordination to priesthood

Father Álvaro Martínez Ibañez celebrated 10th anniversary of his ordination to the missionary priesthood last Monday, 27th May at the Columban Centre House. Fellow Columbans, Korean Associate Priests, Lay Missionaries and Chilean priest friends joined Fr. Alvaro in the celebration of the Eucharist and a festive lunch prepared by the Centre House staff. He was ordained in his home diocese of Valparaiso in the parish of Twelve Apostles on 24th May 2003 by the bishop of the diocese, Mgr. Gonzalo Duarte. In his homily, Fr. Alvaro recalled the various moments of his life as a priest over the past ten years, spent in formation, vocation ministry and now as Regional Director of the Chilean Region. He recalled the many people whose lives have been touched by God through his sacramental ministry. Fr. Michael Hoban, Vice-Director thanked Fr. Alvaro for his service to the Region and wished him every blessing for is ministry in the years to come.
